A Palo Duro Elopement: Choosing Joy Amidst a Global Pandemic

    A Change of Plans

Whenever Haley and Damion originally inquired with F&F, they knew they wanted a simple, yet epic, wedding day. In their brilliant minds, they decided Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Canyon, Texas was the way to go; and we agree as this isn’t our first rodeo at Palo Duro. They were going to bring only close family and friends (maybe 30-40 people) and have an intimate ceremony followed by partying the night away in the enchanting red rocks with those they love most. OKAY. Sounds pretty perfect to me! However, months after planning had begun, the now Henrys had some tough decisions to make considering the newfound restrictions that Covid-19 had forced upon them. They decided to continue on with their original date while holding the presence of their family and friends near to their hearts and FaceTime accounts Peep the photos below of Haley’s dad seeing her for the first time on her wedding day! Keep the tissues close…you’ve been warned.

    The Big Day

I don’t know that I have ever felt as much peace and calm on a wedding day than I did at this one. Just Haley. Just Damion. I walked into Haley’s room at The Holiday Inn and she seemed so relaxed, yet ready to do this thing. Her HAMU team was crushing it, her modern Sophia Tolli gown was bangin’, and everything was right on schedule! Meanwhile back in Damion’s suite, he was prepping the room for their first night in as a married pair. Much to Haley’s surprise, this dude learned how to make swans outta bathroom towels and I will forever be so impressed by this kind and considerate gesture. It’s the little things, ya know? Once final touches were in place and towels folded, we all made our way to the park.

The ceremony was beautiful. A hail storm had just passed over the canyon moments before which left the skies dark and moody and just how we like ’em. Sweet words and sparkly rings were exchanged. A kiss to seal the deal and BOOM, it was time for some adventure. We trekked through the park toward an epic cave and danced along the red dirt with happy hearts. We ended the night with a delicious charcuterie board, cake, and bottle poppin’. It ended too soon and I wish we could do it a thousand more times at least. Thank you, Haley and Damion, for entrusting us to capture such a day as this one.

A special shout out to WildBlu Elopements for making all of Haley and Damion’s vision come to life! If you are looking to elope, I can’t recommend them enough. The true MVPs.
